Zanzibar national team has conceded the most number if goals in the CECAFA women’s group stages and have been labelled the tournament ‘whipping girls’.

The team’s headcoach Mustafa Hassan Suleiman picks the positives from the tournament and hopes to learn from their mistakes to improve their future shows.

“When we compare our team’s shape to others you’ll realize there is a very big gap in all spheres but what’s vital is to learn and improve right from our preparations up to when we engage in our next international matches.”
“The most important point was to protect our country’s image. Zanzibar is a CECAFA region member and therefore when the association starts up a project, we feel obligated as a nation to participate in sign of solidarity with our neighbors.”
Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Ethiopia are the four teams that will take part in the semifinals with the winners progressing to the finals and the losers consoling with the third place play offs.
