There is perhaps honest surprise twist of events in the development of Vipers Sports club over the recent past.
From being merely a football club, Vipers are clearly taking the bold path of not only being a force at home (Uganda) buy also testing the waters on the continent.
From laying proper management structures to bolstering the technical team and squad, there is evidence about the growth of Vipers SC into a brand.
And on Saturday, the Venoms put up an unprecedented function in which the new players and the old squad were unveiled to faithful fans that turned up at St. Mary’s Stadium.
With a fanfare atmosphere to usher in the new season that gets underway on Tuesday, the new squad was revealed. The players were given a red carpet treatment.
Among the new players unveiled included Yayo Lutimba, Baden Mujaid, Ashraf Bamuturaki “Fadiga”, Taddeo Lwanga, Benjamin Nyakoojo, Tom Masiko, Stephen Mukwala and Clovis Moussa Mbayi.
Club Patron, Lawrence Mulindwa put it straight that the team’s target this season is to win trophies and return to the continent.
“We have assembled a good squad, the technical team is also bolstered and everything is available to enable us ably compete,” he said.
“The target this season is to win trophies and play on the continent thereafter,” Mulindwa added.
Team manager, Miguel Da Costa also echoed same words indicating he has everything at his disposal to compete for titles.
The other activities that took place at the function included launching of Vipers membership cards, club seasonal tickets, new kit(both home and away) and awarding players where captain Nicholas Wadada was named the club’s Most Valuable player for last season.
Vipers begin the season with an away fixture against Bright stars in Mwererwe on Tuesday.
