UPL Awards: Battle for the Golden Glove

NAMBOOZE
Tom Ikara, Ismail Watenga and Benjamin Ochan will battle for the goalkeeper's gong

The 2016/17 Uganda Premier League Awards are on tonight with the crowning event scheduled to be hosted at Imperial Royale Hotel, Kampala.

Several categories are lined up from which winners will be selected including the shot-stopper who stoodout last season.

Thomas Ikara (Kirinya Jinja SS), Ismail Watenga (SC Vipers) and Benjamin Ochan (KCCA FC) are final three candidates for the best goalkeeper award.

Arguably the most important position on the pitch, goalkeeping requires great game reading, vision and organization.

Goalkeepers often come of their line to clear the mess whenever the defense line is beaten.

ChimpReports’ Joel Muyita gives you an insight about the three nominees that are vying for the golden glove.

Benjamin Ochan (KCCA FC)

Ochan is the most experienced amongst the three nominees. He played a vital role as KCCA FC successfully defended the league title.

Despite conceding the most goals amongst the three, Ochan’s contribution cannot be underestimated.

He kept 8 clean sheets with 4 coming in the first round while the other 4 came in the second round.
