The Ugandan Peoples Defence Forces (UPDF) has Sunday joined Christians of Kitabi Parish in Bushenyi District to raise funds for construction of a new Church.
The UPDF was led by the Commander Land Forces Maj Gen Peter Elwelu.
The occasion which took place at Kitabi Parish began with mass led by His Grace Archbishop Paul Bakyenga of Mbarara Archdiocese.
In his remarks, Archibishop Bakyenga commended the UPDF for being a pro-people force and depicting excellent relations while supporting community programs.
The function was also graced by minister in charge of general duties, Hon Mary Karoro Okurut who also doubles as the Bushenyi Women MP.
Hon Karoro also represented H.E the President at the function.
Over Shs200 Million was raised toward the construction of the Church that will host the Kitabi Parish Centenary celebrations in 2019.
Maj Gen Joseph Musanyufu, the UPDF Joint Chief of Staff also attended alongside other UPDF officers.
