UPDF Colonel Pins Body Guard in $40,000 Robbery Case

UPDF Chief Inspector General of Miltary Equipment Col. In his testimony, Col. Amanya informed court that he suspected that Wafula was involved in this robbery basing on the way he behaved after the incident.

“The day Wafula asked me for permission to go back home is the same day I found my house with no worker and the bedroom widely open with the money missing,” he said.

On reporting the matter to CMI, Amanya said, Wafula was arrested but on search of his home they found a box which contained 13000 USD, which is suspected to have been the balance of the money that was robbed from his bedroom.

“On arresting Wafula, he broke into tears in front of me with other officers and it was then that he asked us for forgiveness.”

The witness further informed court that he owns Solamu General Enterprises, a company that supplies general Merchandise to both Ministry of Defense and Police.

He has participated in a number of international Missions like AMISOM in Somalia where he was being paid in dollars.

Court Martial chairman, Lt Gen Andrew Gutti has adjourned the case and further hearing of the matter to December12th while Wafula has been remanded back to Makindye Military barracks.

Prosecution alleges that on November 4th 2015 while at Najjanankumbi, Rubaga Division in Kampala Wafula stole 40,000 USD belonging to Col Solomon Namanya, his then boss.
