UPDF ARMS SAGA: Who is Captain Muhoozi?

As the fake arms deal scandal deepens, web the particulars of Gen Salim Saleh’s aide detained by police have emerged.

The suspect, who was arrested this past Friday, has been identified as Capt Ronald Muhoozi Mutebi.

Army spokesperson Lt Col Paddy Ankunda today confirmed Capt. Muhoozi’s arrest in the arms deal investigation.

He quickly added that Muhoozi’s actions had nothing to do with Gen Saleh.

Ankunda today admitted that the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) and police Special Investigations Unit were jointly probing the matter.

“This matter has solicited a lot of publicity and we thought we should come out to clarify that it is being investigated,” Col. Ankunda told journalists at the Ministry of Defence headquarters in Mbuya, Kampala on Wednesday.

“We would like to state clearly at this moment that sometime in 2015 fraudsters claiming to be representing the UPDF met a representative of a Polish company and in subsequent discussions the investigations have revealed an acceptance agreement was reached on behalf of the ministry of defence,” added Ankunda.

Capt Muhoozi was arrested alongside top city conman identified as Sam Simbwa, the alleged mastermind of the botched multi-million dollar deal.

Officials told ChimpReports that Captain Muhoozi is aged 38.

His current work station is UPDF Guard Battalion – Bombo General Military Headquarters.

Sources said Captain Muhoozi had just returned from course since January 2016.

And that before the course he used to work under Operation Wealth Creation.

He also previously worked under Military Police Unit and other fighting units as a platoon Commander

Captain Muhoozi joined the Army in 2001 as Officer Cadet.
