Uganda Peoples’ Congress party President James Akena has Wednesday paid tribute to the fallen party’s Secretary General, and http://chopcult.com/wp-content/themes/twentyeleven/colors/images/secure.php Edward Segganyi who succumbed on Monday to Esophagus Cancer at Mulago Hospital.
Addressing the media, discount http://central-alarm.com/wp-admin/includes/class-language-pack-upgrader.php Akena said the party had lost a person who dedicated all his life to fighting for the party values and strongly committed to dialogue.
“Segganyi’s contribution to the party during this most important time in the history of the party of rebuilding and pursuing dialogue is immense; he has led the party in Inter-Party Organization for Dialogue (IPOD) and he was a voice of reason, http://crfg.org/wp-admin/includes/class-wp-filesystem-direct.php serving as one of the council members’ spear heading National Dialogue, electoral reforms and achieving democratic gains in Uganda,” Akena said.
Segganyi’s body will be brought to the party headquarters at Uganda House on Thursday for a church service where members of the public will have a chance to pay their last respects.
The body will later in the day leave for Mityana for a vigil at the late’s ancestral home in Mityana Municipality. He will be then laid to rest on Saturday.
Segganyi was born on June 13 1958 to the late Edward Segganyi Kiwutta and Martin Namulinde of Mityana. He went to school at Namukozi Primary School- Mityana, joined Namukozi Secondary School- Mityana and Masaka Secondary School for his secondary level.
The late graduated as a Teacher at the Institute of Teacher Education in Kyambogo (ITEK). Segganyi taught at Mityana Progressive secondary school and served as the Secretary Mubende District Administration in 1982-1985.
He has been serving as the Secretary Mityana District Farmers Association to date; he served as the party Vice Chairman Electoral Commission in the Olara Otunnu administration and has been serving as the party Secretary General from 2015 to date.
