The Huduma Kenya Programme implemented by the Ministry of Devolution and Planning has been declared this year’s winner of the United Nations Public Service Award in improving delivery of public services.
The United Nations Public Service Awards is the most prestigious international recognition of excellence in public service.
It rewards the creative achievements and contributions of public service institutions towards a more effective and responsive public administration worldwide.
President Uhuru Kenyatta commended Huduma Kenya Programme, saying his government is committed to serving Kenyans and the one-stop-shop approach to public service delivery adopted by the programme will go a long way towards achieving that goal.
“I am glad that the Huduma Programme is already proving to be a showcase in efficient and effective public service delivery I Africa and beyond.”
The Huduma Kenya Programme will be feted in June during the 2015 United Nations Public Service Awards ceremony, which will be held in Medellin, Colombia.
The second position in improving delivery of public services was taken by Ethiopia who presented their Integrated Housing and Development Programme.
