Katamba, the developer of the Jaguza Livestock Software Application won the award after he emerged the winner of the e-Agriculture category at the Commonwealth Youth ICT Competition.
The awards which are organized by the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation (CTO) are meant to recognize excellence and enable knowledge in the young innovators in e-Education, e-Agriculture, e-Commerce and e-Health categories. They were also part of the activities held to celebrate the organisation’s 115th Aniversary.
All CTO member countries, were invited to participate by engaging their innovators. Over 1,000 entries were received by the CTO from all the 34 member countries.
Katamba previously participated in the 2015 Annual Uganda Communications commission’s Innovation Awards (ACIA) and at the ITU Telecom World 2015 event in Budapest, Hungary where he was recognised.
He will be awarded a cash prize of £1,000 at the CTO Forum scheduled for September 12 to16, 2016 in Nadi, Fiji.
