The Uganda Health Marketing Group under the auspices of the Ministry of Health is organizing the Uganda’s social marketing conference, the first of its kind in the country.
The event will be running from 12th to 13th October, 2017 at the Imperial Royal Hotel in Kampala.
According to Diana Atwine the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Health, the annual conference will provide an opportunity to all social marketing practitioners in Uganda and across Africa to learn from each other and from experts all over the world.
“This conference will enable social marketing partitions to stay in touch with the changing global trends and practices in the field with the aim of delivering efficient and impactful social marketing interventions” she said.
The PS says this year’s conference will be under the theme “Fostering sustainable behavior and health marketing through social marketing”.
The conference is expected to bring in stakeholders from public , private and commercial sectors, funders, practitioners, academicians, policy makers and researchers to share best practices, build capacity and nurture the social marketing field inn Uganda for accelerated improvement on key health sector indicators.
“Though social marketing, government will increase access, demand and utilization of health products and services through the private sector to serve the end mile and complement our work in the public sector as we move towards achieving a good life for all Ugandans”.
At the conference, new ideas and evidence based approaches will be presented by thought leaders in the field of social marketing.
“Social marketing which applies marketing principles to influence behavior for social good, has been proven effective in increasing access, demand and utilization of health products and services”.
