Uganda Cup: Vipers, Onduparaka at Home in Round Of 16

Uganda cup defending champions Vipers SC will play for the first time at home during the 2016/17 campaign.

Vipers have been pitted against Kiboga Young in the round of 16 draws held at the FUFA headquarters on Wednesday.

The defending champions started their title defence with a trip to Koboko where they eliminated Premeo FC 4-2 on penalties at the round of 64.

The Kitende based side then went ahead to eliminate Soana FC 2-0 at Kavumba Recreation centre at the round of 32 and will now face Kiboga Young in the next round.

This will be Vipers first Uganda cup game at the newly constructed St. Mary’s stadium against Buganda regional side Kiboga Young who eliminated SC Villa at the round of 64.

In the other draws, stuff Onduparaka have been drawn against  Fufa Big League side Water FC and will play at home(Greenlight stadium) in Arua.

Onduparaka eliminated Mbarara FC 2-1 at the round of 32 while Water got a walkover against Boma Young who failed to travel to Kampala.

Record champions Express (10 times) will be at home to Masavu FC while KCCA FC will make the long trip to Mbale to face Kataka FC.

The only all Uganda premier league tie at this stage involves URA football club who will take on JMC Hippos in Lugazi.

The other fixtures include Fort Portal Boda Boda taking on Paidha Black Angels, Baza Holdings hosting Sadolin Paints while Buganda regional side Kyetume FC taking on Police FC.

The round of 16 fixtures will begin on 19th March till the end of the month.

This year’s final is slated for 27th May in Arua at a venue yet to be communicated.
