Uganda Cup: Express, Kataka Progress to Round of 32


Uganda Cup ten time champions Express FC started their 2017 campaign on a high with a 2-1 victory over defending champions Kirinya Jinja SSS FC in a round of 64 match played at Wankulukuku on Sunday.

The Red Eagles have failed to win the trophy since a back to back title in 2006 and 2007 where they extended the record.

Newly adorned skipper Musa Mukasa headed the home side ahead in the 23rd minute after meeting a flashy cross from Yayo Lutimba.

The School boys rallied back through Isaac Ntege with five minutes left to the first half recess. Simon Sserunkuma pounced on a loose ball from Jinja SS keeper’s inefficiency to give Express the lead and win.

In the other Uganda Cup games played on Sunday, website like this Kataka FC advanced to the round of 32 with a slim 1-0 win over former Big league side Ngorra Freda Carr.

Same result was registered in Jinja as Bul overcame Kireka united. Sadolin Paints FC beat KCCA corporates 2-0 through goals from Fred Kyambadde and Nassar Muzamir.
