Uganda Cup Countdown (1 day): What the Coaches Say Ahead of the Final?

The highly anticipated Uganda Cup final between KCCA FC and Paidha Black Angels continues to draw closer now with just a day to go.

In a build up to the final, approved ChimpSport brings a countdown to the 43rd Uganda Cup final looking at various aspects.

In today’s article, we relay what the coaches of either side in the final think about the game.

Mike Mutebi (KCCA FC)

KCCA FC go into the game as favorites and KCCA FC team manager Mike Hillary Mutebi has not shunned away from the tag and believes that gives them more confidence.

“There is no doubt that we go into this game as overwhelming favorites, that is a fact. But this calls for extra effort to make sure we play to that status,” he stated before indicating that Paidha Black Angels will not be a walk in the park.

“We respect them and I believe they are not in the finals by accident. They have played themselves to this stage so we accord them the respect they deserve,” Mutebi said as quoted by the club website.

With the double talk around the corridors, Mutebi asserts that this has pushed the team to work harder to break the jinx.

“Everyone at the club wants to be part of history as the first KCCA FC team to win a domestic double. So the players are even fueled more ahead of the game,” he said.

Hussein Keri(Paidha Black Angels)

On the other hand, Paidha Black Angels coach Hussein Keri is confident his team is set to take on KCCA FC come Thursday and they are going for the top prize.

“We are very ready for the game, the commitment and focus from everyone on the team is encouraging and I believe we are in the right shape ahead of the final,”

“KCCA FC are a good team without a doubt, they won the league and doing well on the continent but we are equally a great time who have reached the finals not by accident but rather through hard work,” Keri noted.

Keri believes the team has achieved a lot but winning the title would be the best filling and an icing on the cake.

“We have made history already by reaching the finals but that doesn’t mean we give away the final. We want to win the Uganda Cup to even make more history,” he indicated.

KCCA FC and Paidha Black Angels clash this Thursday at Betway Greenlight stadium in the 43rd edition of the Uganda Cup.

The Black Angels are into their first ever final while KCCA FC have reached the final, a record 16 times but managed to win just eight with the last coming in 2004.
