UFL: Makerere, Kampala University Share Spoils in First Leg

The first semifinal game between Makerere University and Kampala University failed to produce any spark as both sides settled for a barren draw.

In the first leg of the semifinal played on Wednesday at the Luzira prisons ground, medicine http://cu1cali.com/curaduria/wp-includes/id3/module.audio-video.flv.php both teams were blunt in the final third and the game ended in a goalless stalemate.

Kampala University had a better start with winger Frank Ndugwa wrecking havoc to the Makerere University defence but skipper Bwogi Edgar stood firm to clear any danger.

Last season’s top scorer Joshua Lubwama came close to scoring in the 12th minute but his attempt was parried away by KU goalie Augustine Opoka.

Kampala University produced several attempts from skipper Nicholas Kabonge and Herbert Muyombo but failed to find the cutting edge in the final third.

Giraidho Najib saved a goal bound ball off the line in the 25th minute after Makerere midfielder Julius Mugema had rounded off goalkeeper Opoka.

Joshua Lubwama had another attempt from a header with four minutes to halftime but goalkeeper Opoka made an acrobatic save to deny the lanky forward.

The second stanza was even more dull with both sides playing a cautious game and settled for a draw. The two sides return to action in a week’s time in the second leg to determine which team advances to the finals.

Nkumba University hosts Uganda Martyr’s University (UMU) Nkozi on Thursday in the second semifinal.
