Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC) has suspended a programmes manager (name withheld on request) for hosting fire-spitting and controversial presidential advisor, seek http://cprescue.com/wp-admin/includes/class-plugin-upgrader-skin.php Tamale Mirundi, site http://ctabuenosaires.org.ar/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/3rd-party/bitly.php Chimp Corps report.
This followed a query from UCC on why the national broadcaster chose to provide a platform to the embattled former presidential spokesperson a platform to spew hate, cheapest incite violence and destroy people’s reputations.
UCC maintained that allowing Mirundi on radio and television stations was in total contravention of the regulator’s directives.
ChimpReports on Saturday contacted UBC MD Winston Agaba who did not deny or confirm the suspension of his junior.
He simply fired back at our corp: “Come to my office or put your request in writing,” before hanging up on the phone.
Agaba’s associates claim Mirundi was hosted on UBC at the time when the former was in South Africa attending a conference.
Nevertheless, UBC Corporation Secretary, Ronnie Kayizzi who served as Acting MD in Agaba’s absence, has since written to UCC undertaking to suspend the manager pending investigations.
In the letter, Kayizzi also apologised for hosting Mirundi, saying such an incident would not reoccur in future.
Mirundi has caused a firestorm in the media by continuing to attack government officials, Mengo – the political seat of Buganda Kingdom and the Catholic Church.
Early this week, Mirundi abused a female journalist working with a Kampala-based radio station, describing her as “stupid” and “hopeless.”
The journalist was seeking a comment from Mirundi on being ordered off radio and television stations by UCC.
UCC early this week ordered radio stations not to allow Mirundi on air until his conduct is regulated.
However, this instruction has sparked mixed reactions from the public.
Conservatives believe Mirundi continues to disparage people basing on falsehoods and that the radio stations are not offering the victims similar opportunities to defend themselves.
However, moderates claim those aggrieved by Mirundi’s wild assertions should seek redress in courts of law.
Mirundi, who claims being the “barking dog” of president Museveni was this year fired by his boss after launching a scathing attack on State House staff.
At the State House meeting, Museveni asked Mirundi: “Mr Mirundi, do you still consume plenty of alcohol. What’s haunting you?”
Mirundi responded: “Your Excellency, I don’t drink alcohol. The people telling you lies are after my life.”
