National Resistance Movement (NRM) Electoral Commission Chairperson, cheap Dr. Tanga Odoi has attacked his party’s Secretariat for failure to pay his staff their salary for up to four months following misunderstandings between the two party offices.

While addressing the EC staff at the headquarters in Kyadondo during the end of year party, website like this Tanga vowed not to accept the salary that was offered to him on Tuesday, symptoms before his other 14 staff members are paid all their arrears.

The emotional Tanga stated that he could not by any means pick his salary without the people that he has toiled with for the good of the party being paid.

He has previously referred to his staff members as the “Team No Sleep” owing to the hectic work they do for the party.

“I was yesterday called to pick my salary at the secretariat but I will not take it. I will not touch a single bit of it before my team of 14 members who were tormented by GISOs are paid,” Tanga vowed.

“If it means being sacked, it’s fine. The secretariat cannot punish my workers to the extent of holding their salary, just because they hate Tanga.”

“I cannot kneel down to another person with whom we were recruited at the same time, I only kneel down to God on Sunday and to President Museveni who has brought me here,” he retorted.

Odoi has in the past not been at the best of terms with the NRM Secretary General Justine Kasule Lumumba.

Odoi accuses the SG of usurping his powers and making appointments on his behalf. In September, he accused her of illegally issuing appointment letters to some 200 registrars.

The appointments, Odoi said, were illegal and he advised the registrars to return the letters to Lumumba. He went ahead and appointed another set of district and sub-county registrars, who he said would oversee the party’s internal elections.

At today’s function Tanga assured the party’s Secretary General Mrs Lumumba, that he won’t bend low because of payment but continue to fight for justice to prevail in the party.
