Two Arrested For Murder Of Rwandese Student

Killed: Late Andrew Gatare

Police are holding in detention two men in connection to the murder of Andrew Gatare  a former student of Columbian College in Canada.

Gatare was murdered on January 1 near Serena Hotel in Kampala,  according to Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyango.

Onyago identified the two suspects as Ronald Mutebi a resident of Central Kazo and Lubwama Godfrey alias Jeff of Kazo Angola in Kawempe,  Kampala.

“The deceased was assaulted by the thugs near Serena Hotel, as he tried to resist them from robbing his personal belongings which included a mobile phone set Blackberry valued at Shs 2,000,000/= and a pocket wallet,” said Onyago.

“According to the confession by the suspects, they strangled the deceased until he became unconsciousness.”

Onyango says Police picked Gatare at 1:00am on 1/1/2015, when he was still unconsciousness and took him to Mulago hospital, where he received medical treatment but he passed on later on the same date at 4pm.

The two are charged with murder and aggravated robbery.
