Tortured Segujja Explains Basis of Wrangles at William Street Mosque

Yahaya Segujja, doctor http://compspoultry.com.au/wp-admin/includes/revision.php a former security guard of Masjid Noor on William Street who was tortured and disabled by fellow Muslims while at his workplace has described the dismissal of some Sheikhs from the Mosque by Amir Muhammad Kamoga as the leading cause differences among them and hence the suffering he is undergoing now.

Appearing before Buganda Road chief Magistrate Jamson Karemani, Yahaya Segujja who can barely support himself told court that the  wrangles at William Street mosque were escalated by the dismissal of sheikhs who opposed the UMAR House project.

“Sheikh Yunus Kamoga, who was Amir of William street by then, dismissed Sheikh Hassan Kirya (late) from leading prayers at the mosque after querying the operations of UMAR House project which was being spearheaded by Kamoga himself,” he said.

Kamoga is currently remanded in Luzira for his alleged hand in the murder of a number of Muslim clerics in and around Kampala.

He added that the dismissal of Sheikh Kirya and new information of selling the mosque to Drake Lubega brought tension at the mosque.

Asked by Counsel Mayanja on his role at the mosque, Segujja said his duty was to ensure that Muslims carried out their prayers in peace.

“After Shiekh Haruna Jemba, Mustapha Bahiga (late ), Muhamood Kibaate, Sadiq Ndawula and others were stopped from leading prayers at Masjid Noor, it was my duty to ensure that they continued leading
prayers in peace since wrangles had emerged.”

Segujja revealed that he had been at the mosque for 9 years and in prior to the 2014 incident; he had just been appointed the mosque’s head of Security by Sheikh Najib Ssonko.

At the time he was assaulted Segujja says that Hamid Mbaziira was the one leading prayers in the mosque when a group of people turned against him and started beating him up.

Since October 2014 when Segujja was tortured, he says his health has never improved.  His reproductive organs were damaged and he is supported by metals in his back.
