TERROR THREAT: District Heads Called To Kyankwanzi

There's growing fear that such upcountry towns could become easy terror targets

Amid growing tension as the country braces for possible terror attacks,  various district heads across the country have been summoned to the National Leadership Institute [NALI] in Kyankwanzi.

Those summoned for a 10-day retreat are Resident District Commissioners [RDCs], their deputies and District Internal Security Officers [DISOs].

According to government spokesperson,  Ofwono Opondo, the retreat is scheduled to commence tomorrow 8th and will run to Saturday April 18.

Also, all Chief Administrative Officers [CAOs] will join the meeting later on April 15, according to Mr Opondo.

While security has been more than tripled in the Capital Kampala and across the central region following an Ashabaab attack on a Kenyan University last week, most of the peripheral districts are yet to make substantive responses.

According to Lyantonde RDC, Mr Tiguragara Matojo, these districts on the countryside could become easy targets for terrorists, if there isn’t much improvement.

Mr Opondo says the meeting is expected to enhance coordination between RDCs, DISOs and other districts leaders to ensure maximum protection of people against attackers.
