Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Indian technology giant Tech Mahindra and Matra who will implement the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) project to fully automate their services.
The software upon installation is set to fully integrate URA’s services thus improve the efficiency and optimization of costs.

“URA will be among the first agencies to roll out this tool. We have high expectations in Tech Mahindra that they will deliver high quality systems as they have done elsewhere.”
She said that the public will benefit since the ERP system will make it easier to access and interact with services, order most of which have been manual.
According to Akol, pill the operational costs that URA has always incurred in tax collection will also be reduced significantly.
Ram Ramachandran the General Manager Tech Mahindra for Middle East and Africa said Tech Mahindra will among other things do data migration, customization of the software to URA’s needs and training of URA staff on the functionality and maintenance of the system.
“The new system will also comprise of a budgeting and planning tool to ease financial management. As part of our Corporate Social Responsibility, we shall offer ICT training to the locals as well as induction of fresh graduateds,” Ramachandran added. The implementation of the project will take three years before it is operational.
