Teacher Arrested for PLE Malpractice

Sources said police fear that upon arriving in Kampala, the opposition figures intend to hold a surprise rally in downtown Kampala.

“Police intend to provide free transport to Besigye’s group. An air-conditioned police is van is waiting for them,” said a government official in Kabale.

The opposition politicians last week travelled to Kabale for the hearing of a case in which they are accused of inciting violence two years ago.

Prosecution hold that in July 2012, the accused, during their For God and My County campaign in the area, incited the public which caused several people to throw stones at three police vehicles.

The stones reportedly damaged the vehicles and injured four police officers.

Besigye on Monday denied the charges.

Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson, http://csrf.net/wp-admin/includes/plugin-install.php Patrick Onyango noted that this all began as a one Geoffrey Omon called on a friend identified as Charles Oketch on the night of November 1, to take him out for a drink in a local bar.

“As both got drunk, they developed a quarrel and this prompted Oketch to rise up and hit Omon on the head with a wooden object,” Onyango narrated.

Onyango said Omon was rushed to Gwatiro hospital in Bweyogerere where he passed on .

“The next morning, Omon’s friends rounded up Oketch at his home accusing him for killing their friend, he was first rescued by the areas Local council Chairman who intervened and took him to his home that also doubles as his office.”

“The chairman called police since the mob had surrounded his home, but this didn’t stop them from continuing their attack until they ended up beating Oketch to death.”

Onyango added that the mob continued attacking furiously which prompted Kireka OC, Mugabi to fire bullets in the air and one bullet hit Oyet.

“Oyet, 31 was shot in the chest and was rushed to a hospital in Bweyogerere where he later passed on.”

Onyango added that Mugabi is currently in police cells at Jinja road police station as investigations continue.
Kampala Metropolitan Police have noted that there has been a smooth beginning of the Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) which has so far not registered any big case of Malpractice.

Onyango said, police were notified and went to the school where they arrested Ssebuliba who is currently detained in police cells.

“We have detained Ssebuliba waiting to compare with the PLE papers as they are done and once we notice any similarity, we shall charge him with examination malpractice,” Onyango said.

It should be remembered that results of 1,424 candidates were withheld last year on suspected involvement in various examination malpractices.
