The suspects at Mbarara Police Station

Police in Mbarara are holding four people including three Tanzanian nationals who are believed to have been involved in various crimes in Mbarara town.

The Tanzanians are Fabiano Baruku, drugs Emmanuel Basiimwe and George Kitende while the Ugandan is Imamu Kabagambe a resident of Kabuyanda in Isingiro district.

Kabagambe according to police has been coordinating the group in their missions; majorly killing bodaboda riders and robbing their motorcycles.

The group police says,  then sells the stolen motorcycles to Tanzania where there is ready market and sometimes the DRC.

Mbarara DPC Jaffar Magyezi said the group was arrested in the suburbs of Mbarara this week.

The four he said were found with dangerous weapons including knives, machetes, hammers and a list of names the police believe they were targeting.

Imamu Kabagambe, one of the suspects however denied the allegations saying that the 3 Tanzanians were his guests who had sought medical treatment in the country.

He said the group rented in one of the lodges in Mbarara and stayed there for some  time.

Magyezi said no charges have been preferred yet to the detained group at Mbarara police station but said that once investigations are complete, and tried.
