The State Minister of Finance, cure http://demamore.com/wp-includes/class-simplepie.php David Bahati has blasted former Prime Minister John Patrick Amama Mbabazi, mind saying the presidential hopeful and his supporters will not succeed in their plans of dividing the ruling NRM party.
“The party is still strong and resilient. NRM does not have cracks as Mbabazi and his followers want people to believe, order ” said Bahati.
“If Mbabazi wants to be our leader, he should follow the party rules. He must stop engaging in early campaigns and illegally distributing campaign materials,” he added.
Bahati, who is also the Ndorwa West MP in Kabale district, made the remarks on Saturday while speaking as the guest of honor at the launch of Kabale Motor, Boda-Boda and Bicycle Association at Hill Top hotel in the municipality.
Mbabazi recently launched his presidential bid, saying he will address deep-seated corruption, bad governance and poor quality of the education and health sectors.
He also told President Museveni in a meeting that he expects the party chairman not to contest as NRM’s flag-bearer in the 2016 election exercise.
In response, Bahati said NRM espouses a rules-based competition.
“Members who want to stand for any elective post have to wait till the campaigns begin. They must use party symbols. Mbabazi is using strange symbols which are not associated with the NRM,” charged Bahati.
“How can Mbabazi say he wants to carry our flag in the upcoming elections when he is using the symbol of a Crested Crane? Our symbol is a bus. He is not the right person for our party,” said the Minister.
This is the first attack on Mbabazi in Kigezi region where he hails.
President Museveni is today in Ndorwa West Maziba to launch a wine factory.
Bahati urged the gathering to engage in income generating activities to improve the quality of their livelihoods.
