Presidential aspirant John Patrick Amama Mbabazi has accused the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) supporters of disrupting his campaign rallies around the country.

Mbabazi said yesterday that the ruling party was deliberately trying to disrupt his rallies with the aim of intimidating his supporters.

The former NRM Secretary General was addressing a rally at Boma grounds in Fort Portal town on Tuesday evening where he was welcomed by Hon. Stephen Kaliba the former Tooro Kingdom Prime Minister  who is now contesting for the MP seat Fort Portal municipality.

Mbabazi raised the concern moments after NRM’s Capt Mike Mukula landed President Yoweri Museveni’s campaign helicopter at the ground where the former was preparing to hold his rally.

The copter was carrying President Museveni’s campaigning materials including T-shirts and posters which were offloaded as Mbabazi’s team set up the podium.

Mbabazi revealed at the rally that everywhere else he has gone, look his supporters and agents are intimidated and rallies disrupted.

“Over 1500 of my posters for Fort Portal and Kyenjojo have been plucked off the trees, this site poles and buildings, ” he said.

Mbabazi later asked the hundreds that graced the rally to hand him the power in 2016 to turn around the country.

“I served the government for 30 years but I was serving under a leader who is president Museveni.”

He added , “I will fight the rampant corruption of his rival, unemployment, land grabbing in Tooro region and ensure the veterans and other pensioners get their pay.”
