The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Electoral Commission (EC) Chairperson, buy http://colourtherapy.com.au/wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/public/template-tags/link.php Dr. Tanga Odoi has threatened to disqualify its members who are conducting early campaigns for the forthcoming Municipality elections.
On July 1, a total of 7 Municipalities became effective and have been awaiting election organised by the National Electoral Commission to be conducted.
These new Municipalities include; Ibanda, Njeru from Buikwe district, Apac, Nebbi, Bugiri, Shema and Kotido Municipality.
Dr. Tanga told the media on Friday that the party EC is currently in preparations for conducting primaries in the above municipalities for positions of Municipality MP, Mayor, Councillors, Division Mayors/ Chairpersons and Division Councilors.
“The NEM EC is waiting for communication from the National EC concerning these vacancies and shall soon be rolling out a Road map to party members for Primaries,” Tanga said.
“It has come to the commission’s attention that some party members interested in the above positions are already campaigning in these Municipalities which is an illegality.”
“Am a simple man but difficult, I will not nominate such early campaigners because they will automatically be a loss to the party by attracting court cases.”
Tanga observed that the areas that are mostly affected include Njeru, Shema and Ibanda where interested members are bribing voters during funerals and other fundraising drives.
He also warned all interested members against forgery of academic documents which has cost the party a lot of seats through court petitions.
