The State Minister for tourism Hon. Geoffrey Kiwanda has sternly warned national park authorities against shooting poachers.
The Minister sounded the warning on Wednesday at Mbarara district council hall in Kamukuzi while launching the Tulambule weekend escape campaign ahead of the forthcoming international world tourism day.
Hon. Kiwanda was concerned about reports that game rangers especially in western Uganda were shooting to kill suspected poachers in national parks and game reserves.

“No one is authorized to kill any person; it’s against the law.” he said
The rangers that kill suspected poachers he said should face the full wrath of the law.
The tourism national celebrations will be marked on 27th of this month at Kakyeka stadium in Mbarara municipality under the theme “unlocking the tourism potential”
President Yoweri Museveni is expected to preside over the function.
Meanwhile the Tulambule weekend escape campaign Minister Kiwanda says will commence on the 23rd -25th of this month with authorities visiting the 10 districts in Ankole sub-region.
