Startimes Renews KCCA FC Sponsorship, Takes Over Stadium Naming Rights

Pay TV company Star times have Wednesday renewed their sponsorship package towards the league defending champions to the tune of UGX 3.2billion shillings.

While unveiling the package on Wednesday at Phillip Omondi stadium, illness Aldrine Nsubuga, Star times Vice president in Uganda indicated KCCA FC have given them the mileage and thus thought it was a great move to renew their marriage.

“Today we are here yet again to bring more good news in the game of Uganda,” he started.

“The mileage, brand value and benefits we have got with the initial partnership has convinced us that it can only get better,” Nsubuga added.

“With one year left on the old deal, we have decided to stretch that to four more years,” he revealed.

The initial partnership was valued at UGX 705 million for three years(shirt sponsorship) starting in 2014, remitting 235 per year.

However, in the new deal, 1.6billion of the total package will be for shirt sponsorship with annual disbandment increasing from UGX 235M to 400M.

In a similar development, Star times has taken the naming rights of the stadium in Lugogo and the name will change from Phillip Omondi stadium to Star times stadium.

The naming rights have been valued at UGX 1.6 billion with UGX 400M per year. The new deal will be effective on 1st July this year.

Star times also indicated that they will have one channel dedicated to KCCA FC.

“We are planning to have a channel dedicated to the club where we can have matches, training and other club content for broadcast,” Aldrine added.

KCCA Executive Director, Jennifer Musisi who was also present during the launch thanked Star times and indicated that KCCA are on the right course.

“We are proud of Star times for believing in us and giving us such money. I believe the team is headed to the right direction with such deals,” she said.

KCCA FC already have three sponsors at the moment with Star times, Britam Insurance and Prime Media.
