A commercial passenger plane belonging to the South Supreme Airlines crashed and instantly burned to ashes in the South Sudan’s Wau state.
The Antonov 26 that was carrying 44 passengers and crew, crashed on Monday afternoon under yet to be established circumstances.
Luckily all passengers were safely evacuated from the wrecked plane
It was earlier reported by various media houses across the world that all the 44 on board had perished.
Sources in Wau said that people were quickly evacuated when the plane had just crashed, before it caught fire.
“The rescue was swift and all on board managed to survive with simple injuries,” a source in Wau who asked not to be named said.
The plane was entirely destroyed
The plane was from capital Juba and authority is yet to speak on the matter. The incident however happened in a not combat zone.
Some parts of South Sudan are still facing a bloody internal war between forces loyal to President Salva and those of his former vice, Dr. Riek Machar.
