The Soroti Anglican Bishop Rt. Rev. George William Erwau was on Tuesday night arrested by police after he allegedly knocked dead a 24 year old woman while on his way to Soroti town from his home located in Maroon Quarters, sildenafil Soroti Municipality.
The incident happened at around 05:50pm along Soroti – Moroto Highway opposite Soroti Deliverance church, generic near the Soroti Government prisons.
According to police sources, recipe Bishop Erwau was picked up at around 08:00pm at the scene.
The deceased has been identified as Angela Atono, a resident of Anyara Sub County, Kalaki County in Kaberamaido district.
Bishop Erwau was driving a pickup truck registration number UAM 336V.
In his statement recorded at Soroti CPS where he was still being held awaiting police bond, Erwau recalls that the deceased Ms Atono, due to the poor state of the road, fell off a bodaboda in front of him and he knocked her.
The man of God says the unfortunate incident was sudden but adds that the motorcycle was in the wrong.
East Kyoga police spokesperson Michael Odongo confirmed Erwau’s arrest and revealed that he will be granted police bond.
“Good enough he admits to the offence and he is a person everyone knows in case he tries to run away”, Odongo said.
Meanwhile on Tuesday night there was a scuffle between Soroti Anglican reverends with journalists.
The reverends blocked all entries to Soroti CPS and didn’t allow any media person to access police.
