Police in Luuka district have arrested six people in connection with the recent students’ strike at Busalamu Secondary School in Bukanga sub-county, Luuka district.
On Monday, senior four students of Busalamu SS went amok and destroyed school property including breaking class rooms and the kitchen.
The students accused their teachers of collecting 30,000 from each student for field work study tour to Kasenyi landing site but instead teachers took them to Masese landing site in Jinja amidst poor feeding.
The destructive strike prompted police and local leaders led by the district chairperson Abubaker Luwangula to swing into action and indefinitely closed the school.
The District Police Commander Vincent Erema has Friday evening told our reporter that stakeholders are in talks to have the school open next week.
“We have so far arrested six people including teachers to help police in investigating the strike,” Erema said.
According to the police boss, those arrested include; Robert Kiirya, Robert Baidu and Enock Kakusu all teachers in the school.
Others are John Mukuuse, a school cleaner, Arafat Kaita, a boda boda cyclist and a senior four student whose identities were concealed.
