Jailed Makerere University Researcher and activist Dr Stella Nyanzi is terminally ill, generic sources have intimated.
Dr Nyanzi arrived Wednesday morning for hearing of her Cyber harassment case at the Buganda Road Court, healing but seemingly in bad shape.
A source in the Prisons Service told us Dr. Nyazi collapsed, before she boarded the bus to court and they had to find a special car to transport her.
“She collapsed as we brought her and we had to use a pick-up to bring her instead of the usual Prison’s bus,” the source revealed earlier.
Nyanzi appeared at the court, being supported by female Prisons guards and had a cannula on her left hand.
It is still unknown what the vocal activist is suffering from.
The Prisons Spokesperson Frank Beine when contacted however, downplayed the development calling it a stunt.
Baine, who seemed unaware of Nyanzi’s health condition told us, “It is probably a malaria, it is no big deal really.”
Baine said however that Nyanzi didn’t want to go to court today and that she told some of her fellow inmates that she would try to avoid the trip.
He added nonetheless that if sick, Nyanzi would rest assured of proper medical attention, noting, “Our Prison Hospital is well equipped and at the level of a Referral Hospital.”
