Sheikh Kamoga Trial Date Set

International Crimes Division of High court   has ordered that 14 Muslim clerics have to stand trial on charges of murdering two Muslim clerics Mustafa Bahiga and Ibrahim Hassan Kirya.

During the pre-trial session yesterday, more about Justice Duncan Gaswaga confirmed 4 charges against the accused persons.

The charges include terrorism, medicine murder and attempted murder of Sheikh Haruna Jjemba by the 14 suspects basing on rule (10) of the court’s procedural rules.

Before delivering his ruling, shop Justice Gaswaga examined the evidence on record intended to be relied on in proving the case against the 14 suspects and found it sufficient to warrant a trial before a panel of 3 justices of the International crimes court.

Justice Gaswaga ordered that the trial of these accused who  include  the leader of the Tabliq  section in the country Sheikh Yunus Kamoga and  his brother Sheikh Siraje  Kawooya to commence  on the  17th/October 2016.

Justice Gaswaga also read out to court the 11 agreed issues by both the prosecution and defense team which must be resolved by court.

Among the issues; is for court to determine whether the accused had a common intention to murder Sheikh Bahiga and Kirya for either a political social or religious aim or to cause fear and intimidation amongst members of the public.

The accused persons during the trial will be  appearing  before Justices,  Ezekiel Muhanguzi, Percey Tuhaise and Jane Kiggundu.
