Security Heightened in New Districts Ahead of NRM Primaries

Security has been heightened in the new districts as NRM party primary elections kick off this morning.

The new districts commenced operations on July 1st with the financial year of 2016/ 2017 Budget.

NRM Secretary General Justine Kasule Lumumba and the party Electoral Commission Chairman Dr Tanga Odoi have led a team from the Kamala Secretariat to the ground to ensure that the exercise is safe, free and fair.

Only months after the February elections, the ruling party has lost 15 seats in Parliament due it election irregularities and lack of academic papers.

The NRM Electoral Commission Deputy Chairman Arimpa Kigyaji while addressing all the candidates, NRM local leaders, security operatives and the media in Kagadi, Kibaale and Kakumiro, emphasized that all measures have been put in place right from the national secretariat to ensure a free, peaceful and fair elections.

Meanwhile District Police Commander Bosco Arop speaking to our reporter also warned voters against sectarianism, tribalism among others that may cause election violence.

By daybreak, election materials were being dispersed to various sub-counties.
