S.Sudan Peace Talks Resuming, Moved to South Africa

Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has reduced the gate charges for the international friendly match pitting Uganda Cranes and The Scorpions of Gambia today at Namboole Stadium.

The fee was earlier on fixed at Shs 20, salve http://crosscon.ca/wp-includes/feed-rss2-comments.php 000 and 50, online 000 for stands and VIP respectively but has now been reduced to 10, 000 and 20, 000 for the aforementioned categories.

Fifa referee, Dennis Batte has been chosen to handle the match replacing Rajab Bakasambe who had been assigned the duty earlier on.

He will be assisted by Bugembe Hussein and Ronald Katenya who will be the first and second assistants in that order.

Mashood Ssali is the fourth official while Mike Letti will take the Match Commissioner’s role.

Both Uganda and Gambia are using the match to prepare for the upcoming Afcon 2017 qualifiers openers against Botswana and South Africa respectively over the weekend.
The South Sudan peace negotiations between the government under President Salva Kiir and the rebel SPLA-IO Movement under Riek Machar that have already taken one and half a year without success are set resume this month.

The talks are however not resuming in the neighboring Ethiopian capital, page Addis Ababa as has been the case since January 2014 but rather in the South African commercial capital of Johannesburg.

Sources in Addis Ababa from both sides of the conflict and IGAD, click the regional body that is mediating talks told ChimpReports that all is set for the resumption of the talks that stalled on March 6th this year.

The government and the SPLA-IO were supposed to sign a final peace agreement during the African Union and the IGAD`s Heads of State and Government summit in Ethiopia held in February to early March but they disagreed again.

“We are ready to begin the first session of IGAD- Plus peace talks as soon as the coming weekend in Johannesburg, remedy ” a source from IGAD said on Monday.

The two major contentions in the talks include the government matrix where the position of either the executive Prime Minister or the 1st Vice President is supposed to be created for the rebel leader, Machar.

The other dispute is on the security matrix where the two sides are pulling the ropes on either integrating the two forces (SPLA and SPLA-IO) or making them remain as separate forces with parallel command structures.

The South Sudan conflict started in December 2013 when President Kiir and his former Vice Presdient, Dr. Machar bitterly disagreed during a ruling SPLM party national conference in capital Juba.

According to United Nations figures, the conflict has killed twenty thousand people, displaced two million people internally and over five hundred thousand to neighboring countries.
