Rwenzururu Premier Charged, Remanded

Rwenzururu Kingdom Prime Minister, medical Thembo Katsumbire has been charged and remanded to Kirinya government Prison.

Katsumbire is the second high profile official of Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu to be remanded in a period of one week, buy following the remand of his boss, Omusinga Charles Wesley Mumbere and 152 others.

The 152 who included ‘Kirumira Mutima’ royal guards were last week remanded to different prisons in and around Jinja Town including Kirinya and Bugungu in the neighboring Buikwe District.

While appearing before Jinja Grade One Magistrate Peter Mutala on Friday afternoon, the Rwenzururu Premier Thembo Katsumbire and six others including Matte Joseph, Bengehania Hamada, Mbusa Mustapha, Mbiitso Josephat and Getrude Masika where charged with 41 counts
including treason, terrorism, murder, and aggravated murder.

Like the previous batch led by Mumbere himself who were remanded last week, the premier allegedly participated in the murder of several police officers and taking their guns coupled with attacking other government installations like army barracks.

Jinja Grade one Magistrate Peter Mutala advised the suspects to apply for bail from the High Court since it’s their constitutional right saying his court had no mandate to hear such criminal cases.

They were remanded till 28th December 2016
