The Rwanda national football team has arrived in Uganda ahead of the highly anticipated clash against the Uganda cranes this weekend.

The Amavubi stars touched down at Entebbe International airport at 10:35am on Thursday aboard Rwanda Air WB-434.

The contingent that arrived on Thursday comprised of 25 players had 19 players and six officials.

Upon arrival, the Amavubi head coach Antonie Hey indicated they are in Uganda for a positive result.

“We had two difficult games against Tanzania but we managed to advance,” he said.

“The target ahead of the first leg here is to get a positive result and have a comfortable game at home.”

Asked about whether the departure of Micho plays in Rwanda’s favour, the Belgian tactician indicated it could be a huge factor.

“I don’t want to entirely put it down to the coach because Uganda has a very good team but the fact is he was a good coach and his absence could be felt,” he said.

Uganda takes on Rwanda this Saturday at St. Mary’s stadium in the first leg of the Championship of African Nations (CHAN) qualifier.

A week later, the two sides will meet in Rwanda for the return leg to determine which side advances to the final tournament slated for next year in Kenya.

Despite travelling with the team, captain and first choice goalkeeper Eric “Bikame” Ndayishimiye is suspended for the first leg and Djihad Bizimana will be the captain in Uganda.

The Amavubi stars will reside at Imperial resort beach hotel in Entebbe and will have training at Kisubi Technical playground in the evening
