Seraphine Mukantabana, Rwanda’s Minister in Charge of Disaster Management and Refugee Affairs speaking to journalists
Rwanda’s Ministry of Disaster Management and Refugee Affairs (MIDIMAR) has increased welcoming pocket money for returning refugees.
An adult Rwandan refugee returning home will receive 250 dollars where as a child will receive 150 dollars as pocket money.
The development comes at a time when the United Nations High Commission for Refugees is threatening to remove Rwandan refugee status by end of 2017.
Seraphine Mukantabana, http://centrodelasartesslp.gob.mx/home/wp-includes/class-wp-editor.php Rwanda’s Minister in Charge of Disaster Management and Refugee Affairs said the country is able and willing to host every returning refugee as the government has sensitized refugees abroad to return.
She revealed that the government has established new refugee sites with international standards and all requirements that will accommodate them.
Mukantabana added; “We have also thought of the living of our visitors and increased the welcome envelope from 100 to 250 dollars per adult and from 50 to 150 dollars for a child.”
“The more the number of returnees per family the more envelopes they will receive. This money can help them start a living by establishing small businesses,” she said.
Rwandan refugees abroad include the 10000 out of 12000 refugees in Congo Brazaville who will return before Rwanda’s refugee status expires.
