Rukungiri: Manager Flees With Shs 600M in Members Savings


1264 members of the Nyarwanya Savings and Credit Co-operative Society (SACCO) members in Ruhinda Sub County in Rukungiri district are crying foul after the manager of the Sacco allegedly fled with their 600 million shillings.

Evalisto Mucunguzi is being accused by the Sacco members of running away with the group savings, sildenafil and is now on the run.

During the Sacco’s annual meeting held at the Ruhinda sub county headquarters in Rukungiri district on Friday, visit web it came to the attention of the members that their account had been drained to a balance of only 50, what is ed 000 shillings. The meeting was also attended by the Rukungiri RDC Martin Mugabi.

The furious members attacked their Chairperson Justus Muganzi, accusing him of having information about the theft that he was not revealing.

When Muganzi stood up to speak, he was waved down by the members, who asked the RDC to have him arrested and investigated.

RDC Mugabi promised to have the entire force of the district police on this case to make sure that the manager is brought to justice.

Mugabi noted with concern that several Saccos in Rukungiri district have closed under similar circumstances of officials running away with the savings.

These include among others Mihenvu Sacco from Nyakishenyi sub county,  Kubumbu Sacco from Bwambara sub county and Mpororo Sacco from  Kebisoni sub county.
