Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda has called on old students to give back to their old schools through providing career guidance and other resources as a way of appreciating the role those schools played in their life.
Addressing students and teachers at Kigezi High School on Saturday, Rugunda, himself an old boy noted that alumni of schools and universities world over support their old institutions to keep them cutting edge.
The Prime Minister lauded the association of Kigezi High School old students for mobilising themselves to drove renovations at the old school and to boost academic performance.
The Prime Minister was at the school as part of the drive of events to plan for the Centenary Celebrations of the school in 2022.
He called on the students to observe discipline as a prerequisite for academic excellence.
Rugunda noted that Kigezi High School has produced notable old students such as former FDC Presidential Candidate, Dr Kizza Barigye, former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi, former President candidate Dr Abed Bwanika, Central Bank Governor Prof Emmanuel Tumusiime-Mutebile , retired Supreme Court Judge Prof George Kanyeihamba among others.
“Kigezi High School has produced these great people in our country. You too can be anything at any level you want if you work hard and are disciplined,” said Rugunda.
