Rubanda Teachers Unpaid for 6 Months

Teachers in the newly created district of Rubanda are protesting nonpayment of their salaries for over six months.

About 250 teachers say that since Rubanda district was curved from Kabale district on 1st July 2016, stuff they have never been paid.

Anthony Musasizi the Chairperson Uganda National Teacher Union-UNATU Rubanda district says several teachers missed their salaries, buy after their names were erroneously omitted from the payroll.

Musasizi says the district administration has failed to intervene in time despite the fact that the matter was brought to their attention saying that whenever they go to the acting human resource officer Justus Ampaire he chases then away even abusing them.

He says that on 15th November 2016, recipe he petitioned chief administrative officer demanding explanation why pay slips reflected money on teacher’s accounts and why others were not on payroll yet they were getting salaries when they were still part of Kabale district.

He adds that effective this week, they will lay down their tools until the district pays their salaries.

When our reported contacted the Rubanda district chief administrative officer Edith Turyasasirwa declined to comment and cut off the phone call.

Kenneth Jogo Biryabarema the LC5 boss says that the problem has come  to his attention and that the CAO is handling it .
