Uganda National Teachers Union (UNATU) leadership has threatened to mobilize all teachers in Rubanda district to lay down tools, viagra 40mg if salary arrears of some teachers are not paid by end of the month of June.
Zadock Tumuhimbise the UNATU National Chairman warns that they will demonstrate and abandon teaching effective 1st July, if the salary arrears are not paid by end of month.
Tumuhimbise accuses the Rubanda district Chief Administrative Officer and the district Human Resource Officer of slackness.
He says the duo is aware that the money will be taken back to the national treasury if not paid to teachers, yet he is holding onto it.
Edith Turyasasirwa the Rubanda CAO however, says that they aware of the unpaid arrears and that the teachers will be paid all the arrears before 30th this month.
On 12th June this year, teachers petitioned UNATU chairperson saying they were owed up to Shs. 150 million in salary arrears accrued over last one year.
The teachers claim the money accumulated after some of their names went missing from the payroll under unclear circumstances. Some teachers allege that they were scrapped off the payroll intentionally.
Despite the anomalies on the education payroll, some teachers continued teaching with hope that the anomalies would be rectified and their salaries cleared.
Enoch Mugwaniza, a teacher at Lyamuriro primary school in Ikumba Sub County says he has gone twelve months without pay is now owed 6.4million shillings.
