Road Accidents Blamed on Government Convoys

Mukono South MP, Johnson Muyanja Senyonga

Mukono South MP, more about http://celiac-disease.com/wp-admin/includes/class-walker-category-checklist.php Johnson Muyanja Senyonga has partly baled the recently increasing carnage on roads in Uganda on what he called ‘abuse of the right of way’ by government officials.

About 30 people have perished in three different accidents along the Kampala Masaka road alone in the past one week.

Muyanja while addressing at parliament on Thursday, http://comeandcheck.it/wp-content/plugins/sitepress-multilingual-cms/menu/post-menu.php noted that ministers, http://covintec.cl/wp-content/plugins/contact-form-7/uninstall.php officials from government agencies and forces claim the right of way against legal provisions.

The legislator wants the use of motor sirens and lead cars be reviewed to match with legal standards.

The constitution restricts the right of way to the President, Vice President, the Speaker and Deputy Speaker as well the Chief Justice and Deputy Chief Justice plus the Central Bank bullion van but many vehicles with government number plates tend to surpass the provision.

Muyanja also appealed to the Inspector General of Police, Gen. Kale Kayihura to empower traffic officers so as to execute their duties against such errant government officials without fear.

The MP noted that several traffic officers fear stopping government vehicles that are always in the wrong, being aware that they will not serve their punishments.

Recently the IGP Kayihura promised to have the current right of way guidelines revised after discussion with government.
