Ex Counter Terrorism Boss to Head Kampala Security

Byakagaba is one of Uganda’s most feared police officer, having led specialised intelligence operations in the country to hunt down deadly ADF militants.

Byakagaba was in 2011 tasked with heading security of all oil installations in western Uganda.

According to a brief statement issued by Police on Wednesday night, Gen Kayihura observed: “I have appointed AIGP Abas Byakagaba substantive commander KMP.”

He added: “SCP Ahmed Wafuba is appointed is appointed commander oil and gas.”

ChimpReports understands the reshuffle could be aimed at strengthening intelligence gathering systems and general security in the city.

Opposition politicians are yet to rule out the possibility of adopting a civil disobedience campaign to

CP Benjamin Namaya who has been acting commander KMP has been given special duties in the directorate of Human Resource Department.

Kayihura said details about the reshuffle would be communicated later.

He further instructed that his order must take immediate effect.

The IGP said the Director Human Resource Administration should organize the handing and taking over process.
