The Uganda Red Cross Society yesterday donated household items to the 120 families who were hit by floods at Nfasha trading centre in Muko Sub county of Rubanda district.
The handover of the items was presided over by Ntambi Umaru the National Coordinator in Charge of Emergency and Response department in Uganda Red Cross Society.
The items included blankets, saucepans, Jerrycans, tarpaulins, mosquito nets, cups, bars of soap, tablets and plates.
Speaking at the handover, the Rubanda District speaker Gerald Akambasa, and Inspector of schools Richard Mugayehwenki who represented district leadership, commended Uganda Red Cross Society for their quick intervention to help residents whose property were swept away by the floods.
Red Cross’s Ntambi revealed that after the organization received information about landslides in Rubanda district, organized quickly to help.
He however condemned some of the locals who registered themselves to receive the items when they were not victims.
