Prosecutors under their Umbrella Association of Uganda Association of Prosecutors (UAP) who are currently on strike over salaries, will Monday hold a General Assembly where their leaders will officially communicate to them Government’s position about their concerns.
According to David Baxter Bakibinga the chairperson of the Association, the prosecutors are meeting at Imperial Royale Hotel to decide on whether to stop or to proceed with the strike
“Today we are going to discuss the details of the government commitment paper with our members to have their take over it,” he said.
Last week all Prosecutors countrywide went on an indefinite strike in protest of poor pay, poor working conditions and lack of promotions.
Government through Justice Minister Kahinda Otafiire agreed to increase their salaries from 600,000 for the least paid prosecutor, to 3million, although they wanted 8million.
