Arsenal Football Club has become the first Premier League side to secure a regional partnership in Ethiopia after announcing Dashen Brewery as its Official Beer Partner.
The three-year-partnership will help Arsenal get closer to its fans in Ethiopia and will focus on supporting Dashen Brewery’s community based initiatives with coaches from the club taking part in grassroots football development projects in Ethiopia.

The partnership follows backing from overseas shareholders of Dashen Brewery (Duet and Vasari).

Prof. Venansius Baryamureeba has today unveiled his 12 point manifesto ahead of the forthcoming presidential polls in 2016.
Baryamureeba while addressing a press conference at City Royal Hotel in Kampala on Friday said that his manifesto is in consideration of Uganda’s vision 2040 and National Development Plans.

The presidential candidate intends to allocate at least 20 percent of the budget to education as well as review policies and laws in the sector.
“My government will ensure that every Ugandan regardless of family background accesses quality education at any level of education systems,” he said.
He also pledged to provide education loans to higher education students and increase teachers’ remuneration to encourage people to join the profession.
In the manifesto, health will be allocated 16 percent of the budget because of ‘its strategic importance’. Baryamureeba said he will invest in rehabilitating and establishing new hospitals and also reviewing salaries of medical personnel.
On the issue of job creation, Prof. Baryamureeba said “One way government can create jobs is to invest in quality education and training “This he aims to achieve through setting up a Youth Development Bank to offer low interest loans to youth with unique start ups and SMEs.
“Agriculture is the backbone of our economy and is source of livelihood for over 70 percent of the people. We’ll set up cooperatives from the grass roots to facilitate easy mobilization of farmers” he said.
He also promises to revive the Uganda Cooperative Bank to extend financial services to cooperatives.
Other sectors that the Barya government intends to invest in are; infrastructure, good governance, introduction of a minimum wage and industrialization.
Prof. Barya noted that tolerance of corruption is what has resulted into poor service delivery because it fleeces resources from the most vulnerable.
“My government will develop a system of wiping out corruption and ensuring that corrupt officials are punished severely” He urged Ugandans to shun leaders who engineered bad laws and who have promised but failed to deliver.
Baryamureeba will officially launch the manifesto on October 5 the same day when he will be nominated as a Presidential candidate.
Prof. Venansius Baryamureeba who’s the Vice Chancellor of Uganda Technology and Management University (UTAMU) declared his intention to stand for Presidency in May. He is so far the first presidential candidate to return nomination lists endorsing him to run for top seat.
