Baryamureeba who together with fellow candidate Maureen Kyalya attended the inauguration ceremony of Museveni, look told Chimpreports at the Kololo Independence Grounds that he had no regrets showing support to Museveni or attending his swearing in function. The other five candidates who were invited for the occasion did not show up.
“This is a national function and since I was invited, there is no way I wouldn’t attend. The only function that I can’t attend is that of the NRM party,” Barya said.
Asked whether he is confident that the president will steer the country in the direction he would have if he was elected president, Barya said, “I am not him and since we have one president at a time, I presented him with my manifesto and I know he will make good use of it.”
“I’m glad that the president has vowed to fight corruption to its fullest and empowering Ugandans to be hard working; these and many others would be the issues that I would have dealt with first,” Barya said.
“I think president Museveni will handle the issue of corruption since he has vowed to do so and as any Uganda, I am ready to support him fulfill this duty.”
Barya said that it is a duty of every Uganda to support the sitting president to fulfill his/her planned agenda.
