Pool Championship: Bonde Sneaks to Finals as Kyeyune, Katongole Stand Out at Pool Nest

Bob Kyeyune qualified as the best in Kireka

2009 National pool open champion Fred ‘Bonde’ Namanya survived a late scare to qualify narrowly for this year’s finals to be held in Kampala later on.

The national seed 14 had to maneuver through Rogers Muhinzi to win with a slim 3-2 margin in the third place playoff in a best of five at the Pool Nest in Kampala.

The Hotpool club star was fatally crushed 3-0 by Allan Katongole in the semifinals. He had beaten current and former league one topscorer and leading scorer Ashiraf Mbazira and Eddy Kawuki in the round of 16 and 8 in that order.

Bob Kyeyune was the overall champion after overwhelmingly trouncing Katongole by 4-0 in the beat of seven finals.

Thirty two players were involved in the qualifiers at Pool nest which involves five knockout rounds.
