Police Warns Students, Parents Against Conmen as Term Begins

Parents and children have been warned of various conmen waiting to lure them into their traps as the school term begins.

Addressing journalists in Kampala during the weekly press briefing on Monday, physician police spokesperson Andrew Felix Kaweesi warned that on many occasions, medical conmen take chance of the rush by parents and students to return to school to lure and rob them of school fees.

“They may appear as agents of schools or may lineup together with students and rob them of the school fees, thumb “Kaweesi said.

“In other cases conmen trick students that they know of banks that are less congested and end up conning them of money meant for school.”

He however urged both parents and students to be vigilant on such conmen .

Warns Schools

The police mouthpiece also warned that they are to carry out inspection at schools especially those with boarding facilities to check on their compliance with the education ministry guidelines.

“We shall do inspections to ensure they comply with guidelines and those found below standard will face heavy penalties including closure.”

Kaweesi urged schools to have enough accommodation for students in a bid to avoid congestion.
