Fresh charges have been slapped on former opposition presidential candidate Col Dr Kizza Besigye on Monday afternoon.
Besigye was this morning arrested in the city center as he held a procession from a court in Makindye, seek http://decoclosets.com/components/com_k2/views/latest/view.html.php which had just thrown out a case against him and Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago.
New charges have now been leveled against the duo at the Jinja Road Police station where they were still being held together with other opposition leaders.
Earlier in the morning, the Makindye Chief Magistrates Court dismissed a case of disobedience of lawful orders against Besigye and Lukwago for lack of evidence.
In this case Besigye was being charged jointly with Lukwago and others for allegedly disobeying orders of Kampala South metropolitan police commander of that time Siraje Bakaleke.
The prosecution failed to bring to court the witnesses to pin the duo.
After the dismissal of the matter, Lukwago and Besigye vowed to consult their lawyers on the possibility of suing government for malicious prosecution.
Thereafter, they started driving towards the city center accompanied by supporters amid heavy police deployment.
Besigye was reportedly going to meet his lawyers at Uganda House. He was blocked at Mukwano Road, and he together with his vehicle were taken to Jinja Road Police station.
At the police station he was held with among others FDC Chief Mobilizer Ingrid Turinawe, MP Hon Geoffrey Ekanya, and Former Leader of Opposition Wafula Oguttu.
According to Mrs. Ingrid, Besigye recorded a statement and police charged him with disobeying lawful orders.
This is the same case that was dismissed in Makindye court today and the same that was withdrawn from Kasangati court.
